About this product

Required by NEC code for every outdoor AC condenser. Provides a local shutoff so servicing the unit doesn't require cutting power at the main panel.

What it does

60 amp non-fused waterproof disconnect switch in a weather-sealed metal enclosure. Mounts on the wall adjacent to the outdoor condenser. Allows safe shut-off of the AC unit for service or storm prep without needing access to the main electrical panel.

Why you'll want it

  • Required by NEC and most local codes for outdoor HVAC equipment
  • Waterproof enclosure rated for outdoor exposure (rain, snow, humidity)
  • Allows instant shut-off during severe weather or service calls
  • 60 amp rating covers all residential split AC systems up to 5 tons

Installation

Mounted on a wall within 50 feet of the condenser (per NEC 440.14). Wired between the main panel breaker and the AC whip. A licensed electrician or HVAC technician should install.

What's in the box

  • 60A non-fused waterproof disconnect box
  • Pull-out interlock
  • Mounting hardware

Common questions

Do I need fused or non-fused?

Non-fused is standard for residential AC where the breaker at the main panel provides overcurrent protection. Fused disconnects are used for commercial or specific manufacturer requirements.

Can I install this myself?

Disconnect wiring involves high-voltage connections. We strongly recommend a licensed electrician or HVAC installer for safety and code compliance.

How far from the condenser does it need to be?

NEC 440.14 requires the disconnect to be within sight and within 50 feet of the equipment.

Saved $2,400 vs local contractor

Got quoted $9,200 from a local HVAC contractor for a furnace replacement. Found Furnace Direct and got the exact same Goodman unit for under $5k delivered. My installer couldn't believe the price and installed it in one day. Runs perfectly.

Fast shipping, exactly as described

Ordered on a Tuesday, pallet arrived Friday. Unit was packed well, no damage, all factory sealed. Andrew answered my sizing question over the phone and got me the right model. Couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Installer said same one he'd buy at supply house

My HVAC guy said he pays basically the same price at his wholesale supply house. The markup contractors add is insane. Furnace Direct cut the middleman out entirely. Will recommend to everyone I know.

Heating my 2,200 sq ft home perfectly

Installed my 96% AFUE furnace a couple months ago. Heats my 2,200 sq ft home perfectly, and my gas bill dropped noticeably compared to the old unit. Great product, great price, great experience from start to finish.

Saved enough to pay for the install

Math was simple: 3 contractor quotes all over $8k. Furnace Direct plus local installer was under $5,500 total. Saved enough to basically pay for the install myself. Quality is identical to what contractors charge a fortune for.

No-pressure, honest pricing

Called a few HVAC companies first — every single one wanted to schedule an "in-home consultation" before giving me a price. Furnace Direct just showed me the price. Bought online, shipped next day, done. This is how it should work.
